I'm part of several sites that sell things including DA but I found out something today that makes me wonder about the future of people selling online.
If you have a moment, you should read this:

Apparently some company called VPS says they own the "patent" to online selling sites. They've already settled with a few sites they sued which makes me gag since when you think about it, the format for online sites that sell photos is so generic it's like trying to say you're going to put out a patent for breathing air. I'd like to see someone sue for that.
But seriously... this is really sad when someone wants to screw up a perfectly good retail system by being an arse and saying they own something that really isn't worth suing over. In the wake some sites have to charge service fees where they were free before.

They aren't trying to "screw up" the system, merely profit for a minimal amount of work. I'd guess they have not actually taken any of their lawsuits to court, and have not threatened anyone with an actual legal team.
