I received this email from Prickies.com today.
Apparently they are looking for someone to buy their company.
I'm passing this along.

=============
Dear All,

After 18 successful months building what we believe to be the world's best online collection of button badges, the time has come for us to pursue other ventures and ideas.

Prickie.com has grown well beyond our expectations. Advancing its online presence (with new features such as artist-managed content, product database searches, etc.) will require additional resources. Unfortunately we are not currently in a position to provide further investment.

Unless we are able to find a buyer for the Prickie brand, we will consequently cease trading on 15 June 2007. We'd therefore be very grateful if you are able to pass this information on to any third party who you think may have an interest in purchasing the Prickie.com brand (including the current web site).

We'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you, the artists, for your continued support and for providing the amazing artwork that has been truly appreciated by our customers worldwide. All the positive feedback we have received is testament to the diverse talents you have all showcased on Prickie.com.

We thank you all for your understanding with this matter, and wish you continued success with your future artistic endeavours.

Best regards.

Ed and Pete

It's kind of ironic that they close down because they were getting too much success... :no:

Well some people start businesses to just get them up and running, then to sell them off at the highest bidder and move on to the next venture. Sounds like the Prickie people are that way too.

I don't know... I'm a small minded kind of guy, so that seems kind of dishonest to me. If you start a venture, especially one where you mediate for other sellers, you have to be ready to keep it going, not just start it for fun then close it down when it becomes too compelling.
